As it was stated by Microsoft that they will close support for Windows Xp after 8 Apr 2014 and they did. If you are using Windows Xp (any version whether Sp1, Sp2, Sp3 or latest one) and you have installed Microsoft Security Essentials Antivirus on your laptop or PC then you have to Change your Antivirus because as Microsoft has stopped support may be you will not get latest antivirus updates for Windows Xp.
You can use another antivirus as Quick heal said they will support Windows Xp 2-3 more years. Otherwise if you want to use msse then your will have to upgrade your Operating System to Windows 7 or Windows 8.
You must have an updated antivirus in your PC or laptop to be safe from viruses because after removing support from Windows it will be easy for hackers to make an entry in your system easily. After Windows Xp another most used Os is Windows 7 Ultimate. You can use anyone either 32-bit or 64-bit according to your work load.
